LAMDA
LAMDA (The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) is the UK’s largest statutory speech and drama awarding body.
LAMDA Examinations are designed to develop the skills necessary for effective oral communication and public presentation. These examinations will benefit native English speakers as well as those for whom English is a second language. We prepare and enter children for LAMDA Exams through out all stages as we believe that it is important to be able to measure children’s progress in speech and drama, gives children a sense of achievement, which improve communication skills, increase self-confidence and help them develop strong social skills.
Stanhope Primary School became a Private Registered Centre for LAMDA in November 2017.
Why we became a Private Centre?
Benefits of registering with LAMDA Examinations as a Private Centre include:
- The exam session can be held at an appropriate venue of our choice
- We can choose when the exam session is held
- We can request a session date up to 18 months in advance
- We can register your Learners and manage our timetable online via ExamTrack.

Stanhope Speech and Drama Festivals
In addition to LAMDA examinations, our children take part in at least three Stanhope Speech and Drama Festivals a year, where they have the opportunity to perform poetry in front of their peers, teachers, parents and carers as well as special visitors. We have been running these festival for the last 11 years and they have become our tradition that is cherished by the whole school community.
Oracy, the art of effective spoken communication, holds immense significance in our curriculum at Stanhope Primary School. It serves as a powerful tool that enables our pupils to express their thoughts, ideas, and emotions with clarity and confidence. Through Oracy, they build bridges of understanding, foster meaningful connections, and shape the narratives that define their existence. Oracy empowers them to advocate for themselves, share their knowledge, and engage in fruitful discussions. Whether in classrooms or everyday conversations, the ability to articulate their viewpoints persuasively and listen attentively to others cultivates empathy, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Moreover, Oracy equips our pupils with the necessary tools to navigate a diverse and ever-evolving world, where effective communication is the cornerstone of progress and positive change.
